'No one is a companion of yours except the one, whilst knowing your defects, is your companion, and that is your generous Lord. The best one to take as a companion is He who does not seek you out for the sake of something coming from you to Him.'
Ibn Ata'ullah Iskandari
Every month there is an open Sufi Gathering, the aim of which is to help purify the soul and lift the veils that separate us from Reality. Although each one of us is on their own spiritual journey the coming together brings ease, blessing and support.
The gathering consists of a short reading of a sacred scripture, a brief session of collective invocation to re-orientate the heart after the distractions of daily life, a short talk based on the teachings of one of the Sufi masters followed by an opportunity for questions.
There is then a performance of spiritual poetry and song written by scholars of the Path. Even though they are recited in their original Arabic the beauty of the meanings can still be felt. Some translation will be provided. The gathering is sealed by a prayer followed by the sharing of a meal.
