The Zawiya runs weekend retreats in venues across the UK. These retreats provide a practical introduction to the teaching of the great Sufi masters. Programmes typically include:
§ Teaching sessions introducing a variety of Sufi teachings
§ Sessions of invocation and meditation
§ Practical tasks facilitating self-knowledge
§ Sessions of samaa (spiritual song and poetry)
Occasionally longer programmes are also available. For example in 2006 fifteen men and women from The Zawiya joined a month long programme in southern Spain, which was then featured on the BBC 2 series The Retreat.
