One of the ways to help regenerate communities living in areas of high unemployment is to cultivate the spirit of enterprise.
The Zawiya Enterprise project seeks to do this by:
§ Encouraging those who have business ideas to seek specialist advice
§ Helping those who want to go into business find a good business idea
§ Helping to locate sources of ethical finance for those who need investment
§ Providing and facilitating business networking opportunities
§ Facilitate access to sources of free specialist advice through partnerships with a variety of business support agencies
§ Providing specialist support services to women who would otherwise not access business support
§ Provide support to social enterprises
The Zawiya itself is home to a number of small social enterprises that it is seeking to develop to support its activities and to be become more self-sustainable.
